Perfume Love

Black Opium by YSL

Okay so I might be just a little bit obsessed with my perfume at the moment. I bought this little beauty about two months ago because I fell in love with the smell. It’s a caramel/black coffee scent and it’s SO GOOD. I feel like my eyes go all heart-shaped whenever I start thinking about its amazing smell. It’s very sweet, very feminine but also sultry and deep. It’s a perfume you can wear both day and night = versatility points!

The packaging is also to-die-for, with the pink centre part and black glitter casing. What more could a girl want?

Lush Faves & Newbies

This is gonna be a very passionate post about Lush because I love it so so much. For those of you who don’t know what Lush is… it’s a company that makes fresh, natural bath and beauty products. It is famous for its shampoo bars, bath bombs, and its eco-friendly approach to anything beauty. In other words, it’s AMAZING! And everything smells so. Damn. Gooood. 🙂

Anyway, below are some of my favourite Lush products. And when I say “some”, it’s because nearly every Lush product I’ve tried so far is my favourite. Literally.

Sweetie Pie is a cherry/coconut sparkly shower jelly that smells like HEAVEN.
Whoosh is a seaweed/citrus shower jelly that smells good and wakes you up in the mornings.
Rub Rub Rub is a shower scrub with mineral-rich sea salt, jasmine and mimosa absolutes that leaves skin silky smooth.
Ocean Salt is a face/shower scrub with mineral-rich sea salt, avocado butter and coconut oil that scrubs and softens your skin to perfection.

Today, I got some new Lushies (Lush products) that I haven’t tried before. I have no doubt they will be just as amazing as all of their other products!

Gorgeous facial moisturiser
Brazened Honey fresh face mask
Lemony Flutter cuticle butter
Squeaky Green shampoo bar

I love the fact that they try so hard to cut down on their packaging and use the absolute bare minumum of synthetic preservatives. And now they are trying to remove all synthetic preservatives and parabens from their products. Go Lush! ❤

Lemon Drizzle Cake

This is hands down the most delicious thing everrr. Perfect for anyone who’s got a sweet tooth AND it’s super easy to make! It takes about an hour to make this heavenly treat (preparation and baking included).

Here’s the recipe:

225g unsalted butter, 225g caster sugar, 4 eggs, finely grated zest of one lemon, 225g self-raising flour

For the drizzle:

juice of 1½ lemons, 85g caster sugar

  1. Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4.
  2. Beat together 225g unsalted butter and 225g caster sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.
  3. Add 4 eggs, one at a time, slowly mixing through.
  4. Sift in 225g self-raising flour and add the finely grated zest of one lemon. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
  5. Line a loaf tin (better to use two of these) with greaseproof paper, spoon in the mixture and level the top with a spoon.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes until a thin skewer (or knife) inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
  7. While the cake is cooling, mix together the juice of 1½ lemons with 85g caster sugar for the drizzle.
  8. Prick the cake all over with a fork and then pour the drizzle over it. You can also sift some icing sugar over it like I did.
  9. Leave the cake in the tin until it’s completely cool, remove and serve.
  10. Keep in an airtight container for 3-4 days or freeze for 1 month.

My family (3 people) demolished two of these cakes in a day. IT’S SO GOOD. Try it. 😉

White & Blue

Today I attended a presentation for a golf competition I won. This is what I wore:

Shirt from Primark / Jeans from Mango / Jewellery from H&M / Watch from Aldo

White and blue are my favourite colours at the moment and also my favourite colour combination. The shirt is wrap-style and has a low triangular neckline which looks gorgeous…I love it! I know it looks a bit purple in the second picture, but the colour is actually like it is in the first photo. I paired the outfit with some (a lot) of gold jewellery. I’m really loving gold atm, I feel like it’s much warmer than silver and looks better on tanned summer skin. 😉

Hope you guys like posts like these. 🙂 If you want me to check out your blog just leave a comment with your blog name.

Jumper from H&M / Jeans from Massimo Dutti / Belt from Primark / Bag from Aldo / Watch from Guess / Shoes were navy Converse / iPhone cover from Accessorize

So this is a little peek at what I wore today. It was pretty warm in the morning, but it started raining around midday which wasn’t fun. 😦 Good thing I had my umbrella with me, you never know with this Irish weather!

Can I just say…I love this watch! It’s from Guess and it’s gold and it’s gorgeous. See what I did there? A little alliteration. 😉

Smoothie Time!

Summer is definitely the best time for these delicious fruity drinks. Whether you like your smoothies with milk or without, it’s never too late to get out that blender/smoothie-maker and whirl up a home-made smoothie.

You don’t need to invest in a massive smoothie making machine that has like a million different functions that you don’t even need. I use a hand blender and it does the job.

I looove smoothies with dairy milk, just because I like the taste better than if it’s just blended fruit. I also love the fact that you can make it out of whatever fruit you have at home. Obviously, the more variety – the better! My favourites include bananas and grapes, because my fan buys them anyway so I don’t need to make an extra trip down to the shop for any special ingredients.

If you’re feeling adventurous you can come up with your own recipe, or just add and blend in fruit as you go along. You can’t really go wrong with the taste, because as long as you like the individual fruit, you’re bound to like the taste of the final smoothie (it’s rare for it to end up tasting awful).

Here is a recipe for one of my faves, you can play around with the amount of fruit/milk you add in to vary the taste or the consistency.

You will need:

– a glass, a blender, a vessel that is big enough and tall enough for you to do your blending in

– ½ banana, a handful of grapes (I used green seedless ones), a handful of cherries (I have to admit, it was quite a nightmare de-seeding them), milk (200ml and it doesn’t have to be dairy – feel free to use almond milk or other liquids), chia seeds (if you want to be extra healthy/if you have any available)

Smoothie Time

I throw everything into this tall, wide plastic cup that is very good for blending (my blender fits right down to the very bottom). My advice is to measure out the milk first (my plastic cup has a measuring scale, but if yours doesn’t just add the milk by what you think is the right amount for you). You can add ice if you want your smoothie to be cold.

I blend everything once, and then I add a teaspoon or two of chia seeds. I blend everything a second time to make sure it really is a smoothie and doesn’t contain any clumps.

Smoothie Time 2

Finally, I pour the drink into a tall glass and decorate it with some more fruit on top (I like to pretend I work in a fancy bar where they put lil umbrellas and twisty straws into your drinks)!
